Past Weekend’s Events

The Huskies took on Ferris State University in the football game Saturday evening at the Fifth Third Ballpark in Grand Rapids.
This past weekend proud family and parents of Michigan Tech students came from near and far to join in the fun festivities of Family Weekend. Some of this weekend’s events included a Quincy Mine Tour, a Red Jacket Trolley Tour, a Hungarian Falls Hike, and a Sturgeon River Paddling Trip. Of course no Michigan Tech Family Weekend would be complete without some great Husky Athletics. This weekend the Michigan Tech Huskies hosted their first home hockey game of the season, dominating the ice and defeating Ryerson 3-1 at the Saturday night game. That same evening our Michigan Tech Huskies Football Team traveled to Grand Rapids to play against Ferris State University at the Fifth Thirds Ballpark. The Huskies won the Battle at the BallPark 38-6.
Homecoming
Michigan Tech Homecoming 2009 will take place October 4th-10th and will include many campus traditions. This Sunday kicked off Homecoming with Window Painting in the Rozsa Center Lobby. Window Painting is a new Homecoming tradition, starting this year in the place of Homecoming banners. On Monday students can enjoy a nice glass of rootbeer in between classes with the traditional Rootbeer Keg, the only time you’ll see “Kegs on Campus”! On Monday evening the Michigan Tech girls will have the opportunity to take part in Powder Puff Football. Wednesday’s activities include a service project at the Little Huskies Development Center and the Homecoming Court Dinner where the Michigan Tech 2009 Homecoming King and Queen will be decided. On Thursday students can compete with their student group in the Homecoming Games including a relay race, tug of war, and a sand castle building contest. The evening will wrap up with a bonfire, snacks, some music from the Pep Band, and a visit from Blizzard T. Husky! Thursday’s events are all planned to be held at Prince’s Point located on the Portage.
